We Need Your Help!

Green Mount Cemetery is the final resting place for many of Maryland’s most illustrious citizens from a wide spectrum of the political, industrial, financial, literary and arts landscape.
But, it is also home to many thousands of those we know today as, “everyday citizens.” From mariners, to soldiers, doctors and nurses, grocers, tradesmen, to the enslaved, formerly enslaved. People who history seems to have forgotten.
The historical figures and many of the more well known or affluent resting in Green Mount have their stories and family histories documented in archival libraries, museums, encyclopedias, and even in the movies.
But, we would like to record the lives and family histories of the everyday man and woman who rest among their better known neighbors.

If you have family in Green Mount Cemetery, we would like to collect your family trees and any stories or photographs you would like to share and archive for posterity.
We are also very interested in old photographs of markers and monuments in the cemetery as many have been ravaged by time and are no longer legible.
Can you help us find this treasure?

Thank You For Helping Us to Preserve Our History!
